Dr Tim McDonald was formerly the Executive Director of Catholic Education Western Australia, which comprises 163 schools consisting of over 75,00 students where he delivered system wide strategic direction, new initiatives in teaching and learning including Leading Lights tools which all resulted in better support for teachers and improved student performance.
Tim has worked as an academic in teacher education at Edith Cowan University. At his time at ECU Tim led a groundbreaking study linking student achievement with behaviour. Tim has published a bestselling text used on Student Engagement that is used in schools and universities across the world. Tim was also the CEO of Generation One, which strives to close the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians through partnerships that focus on training, education, and social policy reform.
Prior to this, he was Associate Professor in Classroom Management and Instruction at Edith Cowan University. He has taught in Australia and the UK and has worked with young teenagers excluded from mainstream schooling. He obtained his doctorate in education at Oxford Brookes University in England.
